A special project: dormitories for girls!
As everywhere in Africa, the position of women is weak. Girls are often married off at a very young age (12 years) or at high risk of early pregnancy, often through sexual violence (rape). This inevitably means the end of their studies and their chances for a better life, too.
A very efficient means of ensuring that girls can finish their studies in secondary school is, to offer them a protected environment in the form of a boarding school. For this, construction of dormitories (with showers and toilets) is important.
The foundation of Prof. Em. Désiré Collen, FEFP (Foundation for Education to Improve Family Planning) is our special sponsor for this program. In 2021, we were able to build 3 dormitories for 240 girls, with an event hall, canteen/kitchen and a water well.
