Cocoa for Schools CFS continues to help a local NGO
In Africa, women's rights are still being neglected. Girls are commonly forced into marriage at the age of 12 or are at high risk of early pregnancy due to rape, which inevitably leads to the end of their studies and their opportunities for a better life.
Tuzungumze (which means "Let's talk") is a program for secondary school girls in collaboration with the district's social welfare office and the police department's gender desk.
With the support of FEFP, we launched this program in the 23 secondary schools of the Kyela district in 2022. According to a recent report, there were zero pregnancies in those secondary schools last year, compared to an average of 27 cases per year in previous years.
In December 2022, Tuzungumze organized a series of activities aimed at promoting and showcasing the talents and handicrafts of girls from secondary schools.
